News From Los Angeles...

Hi guys... sorry its been so long... I am super busy! I have to say, although I miss you all so much, I do think that this is the right place for me. I am working as a groomer assistant at PetCo, also, I am starting my own buisness at my apartment (Right as Rain Dog Care... cute eh?) which I am almost unable to keep up with... (we have lots of dogs here in my building...). The best news however, is I may be working for a Gibbon Sanctuary!!!! (for those of you who don't know what Gibbons are, they are small apes. check out www.gibboncenter.org) I am still working on the job at the L.A. zoo, this is proving to be very difficult as the keeper who was leaving, has decided to stay. This is ok though, I am a patient girl, and am willing to wait. The zoo keeper that I worked with at the Woodland Park zoo said that it can take up to a year to get a good job with the zoo, and in the mean time, I am still working with animals, so that is great!
I've been swimming almost every day, which is wonderful. The weather here is great! The people, while garded, seem really nice. I have yet to meet anyone that I consider a friend yet, but I know that will come in time. Its nice that I do have a friend here (Rich, met him when I lived in 29palms), so we hang out a lot. Plus Mike has a few friends here as well. I have a sister and Mike has a brother and a sister here, so its not too lonely!
Mike is doing well. Working like a mad man, which is good because our rent is insane! Sara is working for Green Peace (dirty Hippie!!!), but looking to work for the park department still. The three of us are adjusting as well as we can.
Tonight we are going to carve pumpkins!!! YAY!!! And on Thursday we are taking the dogs to a costume party!!! Dr. Dog "Dok" is going to be the devil, and Pip is going to be a bumble bee!!!! (I cant believe that I am actually going to dress my dog in a costume!!!) The party is a benifit for one of the local shelters, so its for a good cause! (actually a shelter/doggie daycare that I am hoping to work for sooner than later... beats PetCo).
Last week I found a home for an abandoned Pit Bull... very sweet dog. I seem to have a knack for attracting strays! I know that I cannot do it all the time, as I don't have the time or the space, but I'm pretty glad that I was able to do it. Poor dog was left in the parking lot of PetCo with a sign that said free on him. Of course he was not neutered... grrrr! I really wish that people would be more responsible!!! Dok and Pip may not be the best behaved dogs in the world, but they are neutered, licenced, microchiped and eat good food!!!(and for those of you who know the kids so well... you would be amazed at how well they are doing... Pip goes into his Kennel by himself now, and is acting less phyco! And Dok is doing really well!!!) I think this move was good for all of us! We are in an apartment now, so walking has to happen at least 2 times a day. Usually Sara and I walk them for a good couple of hours on Sunday. We found this great petstore called Pussy and Pooch, that sells raw food and natural food for dogs and cats... they have this thing called a Paw Bar... anyway, sometimes we take the dogs there to get a nice snack! (Spoiled animals!!!)
Wow, I have rambled and rambled about dogs for a while... sorry to bore any of you, I'm just really happy with what I'm doing right now! I think that I have finally found something that I can be happy doing... now if I just get to working at a zoo or sanctuary... then I can have both of these wonderful jobs in my life!!!
